For the next episode in the Namdropping project, Amit2.0 met with with graffiti artist GRATIS from the IMR and SFK crews in an empty building in Osnabrück. Afterwards there was an opportunity for a short chat:
Since when do you want to? How come?
My fascination with letters began around 1993 when I tried to copy the logo of my beloved basketball team, the Orlando Magic. I fell in love with the colors and logo more than the players. Other logos followed, such as that of Jurassic Park. The final step towards graffiti came with the appearance and copying of the album cover “Intercityfunk” by CanTwo for “Too Strong”, which was also my introduction to hip-hop music. My “first time” with the can happend in 1995.
How long have you known Amit2.0’s pieces?
I first noticed his crew PND in the 90s. They were already up when I was practicing onto a bridge in my village. I think it was in an issue of the graffiti magazine “12Grad Nordost” when I saw the first pictures of Amit.
Last but not least: What does style writing mean to you?
From 1995 to 2018 there was nothing but graffiti for me – tunnel vision. With the birth of my first daughter, graffiti took a back seat. These days I only paint when the weather is good, if at all. Unfortunately, my interest in the scene and sport is almost non-existent today.
