Mike Maese x Colors Urban Art Project Strasbourg

Artist Mike Maese just recently painted a sports hall in Strasbourg, France with FLAME Spraypaint! This was executed together with students as part of the Colors Urban Art project!

Mike Maese is a multidisciplinary Mexican artist specialized in character design and portraits, his mastery of color sets him apart from other contemporary artists, these contrasts and palettes captivate the viewer’s eye; he uses this element and composition to contextualize and convey sensations that help tell stories. Color and expression are a key element in his work.

Mike Masse about the project:

“After two months traveling in Europe, we arrived during the winter to the north of France, here with the participation of 11 young people from the “Les amis del Château D’Angleterre” association, located in Bischheim, Strasbourg, this mural of over 250m2 inside a gymnasium was created in a span of 7 days. The event was organized by the COLORS urban art festival and El Studioo. The MOLOTOW brand also provided us with “Flame Orange” spray paint with a color palette and quality needed to give life to this mural, also we briefly visited their headquarters in Lahr, Germany.

To conceptualize the mural, we spoke with the teachers and social workers of the Château to represent the sports practiced there, as well as the values they wanted to be reflected, such as healthy competition, teamwork, and sportsmanship. We also wanted to highlight the diversity present among the students and motivate them to participate in physical activity.

The result delighted the staff and students of the Château. We enjoyed and shared great moments and learned a lot in the process. The boys were excited to participate in a mural painting, as well as learning techniques of how to properly use spray paint; I like the idea that some or at least one of the students will end up creating art in the future.
