Sevil Dolmacı Art Residency x Chris ‘DAZE’ Ellis

American graffiti artist and painter Chris “DAZE” Ellis (1962-) was in Istanbul for a month as part of Sevil Dolmacı Art Residency program. DAZE, who came to Turkey for the first time, produced ceramic works, a new medium in art practice. with the inspiration of Istanbul. The ceramic pottery he paints in his own style, inspired by his trip to Istanbul, reflects the artist’s color palette and dynamic imagination. DAZE continued to his first solo exhibition in Turkey at Sevil Dolmacı Art Gallery, which included the artwork he created in Istanbul as well. Chris “DAZE” Ellis (1962-) is represented by PPOW gallery in the United States. His exhibition in the gallery’s New York space attracted great attention. In the upcoming season, his new works exhibited in a group show at museums across China, namely Beijing, Shangai and Hong Kong. In the 1980s, DAZE, who was among the street artists supported by Andy Warhol, worked closely with today’s legendary artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Kenny Scharf and Futura, and took part in numerous group exhibitions together.
